In the first 15 years of his career, Michael took over an eight-million-dollar family manufacturing business with two US based offices, which he grew to forty-five million in revenue with over 200 employees and offices on six continents during his 15 years as President & CEO.
When the housing market crashed in 2009, Michael lost everything. Due to a combination of declining sales, betrayals from key staff, including a business partner who was eventually convicted of fraud, and personal blind-spots, Michael lost it all. But he didnāt let failure keep him down. Instead, he learned from his mistakes and rose back to success.
Late in 2010, Michael leveraged all that he had and started a new business from the ashes. He began implementing EOSĀ® as the basic foundation in his new business. With EOSĀ® as the foundation, Michael then used his past experience with other systems to plug the holes that he found to exist in EOSĀ®, layering on strategy and cash management tools from Scaling Up; recruiting and hiring A-Player playbooks from Topgrading; and other advanced business tools he had learned over his career and from his time in YPO and EO. This customized approach allowed him to grow the business rapidly and in 2015 make the Inc. 5000.
In 2018, Michael exited the new business, and his journey inspired him to take everything he learned in the first half of his career, share it openly with others, and in doing so, give it all back. In his first book, RISE: The Reincarnation of an Entrepreneur (2017), Michael recounts his remarkable story with brutal honesty and self-reflection. He demonstrates how through this journey, he discovered that focusing on five specific things, what has now become The Five Obsessions of Elite OrganizationsĀ®, can help entrepreneurs build elite organizations and free themselves from the control their businesses have over them, fall back in love with their businesses, and achieve their biggest dreams.
Since 2015, Michael has been a record holding Certified EOS ImplementerĀ®, a Certified Scaling Up Coach and a Co-Creator of Pinnacle Business Guides. As the only business guide in the US to have simultaneously held all three certifications, Michael shares from his vast knowledge as well as his more than 20 years of experience in the trenches of the entrepreneurial world to help his clients bring their dreams to reality.
